Jackson’s Career-High 22 Points Lead Chargers in Win at MATC

Kennedy Jackson (Peoria, Ill./Limestone) scored a career-high 22 points in the Carl Sandburg College women’s basketball team’s 77-73 victory at Milwaukee Area Tech on Saturday afternoon.
The Chargers (3-3) got a big outing from Jackson, who finished 10 of 18 from the field and grabbed a team-best nine rebounds. The sophomore forward easily surpassed her previous career high of 15 points, set Feb. 26 last season against Morton.
Sandburg also got 10 points apiece from sophomores Alyssa Hopson (Peoria, Ill./Limestone) and Hailey Lovetinsky (Overland Park, Kan./Spring Hill). Sophomore Cora Neal (Monmouth, Ill./Monmouth-Roseville) added eight points, seven rebounds and had five of Sandburg’s 21 assists on the day.
After trailing 19-17 after the first quarter the Chargers took leads of 37-34 into halftime and 57-52 into the fourth. Sandburg outrebounded the Stormers (3-2) 51-37 and had an 18-10 advantage on the offensive glass. Jackson pulled in five of those offensive rebounds for the Chargers.
Jasmine Malone scored a game-high 25 for MATC, which also got 24 points from Kennedy Perry.
